“Pastel is one of the most permanent mediums, also the most fragile, if touched; it has a tendency to disintegrate much like a butterfly’s wings, The powder pigments of pastels, have a similar quality — they hover between being there and not being there. It’s almost as if you could blow it away. It’s like dust in the desert. My pastels don’t have the “power” of an oil painting but the fragility of life.”
